Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We have answers. Here are some of the most common questions we get asked.

What is the typical project flow for a website or online shop?

  • You will receive a written offer from me
  • Brand workshop if required
  • Brand / logo design if required
  • Conception as a basis and definition of all necessary parameters
  • Detailed planning of design, content, technology and schedule
  • Technical adjustment and setup of the content management system (CMS) or online shop
  • Creation of the screen design based on corporate design, specifications and examples
  • Review and approval of the screen design

  • Project acceptance
  • Launch – your project goes online
  • Support and maintenance such as updates, adjustments and advertising measures

Which services are relevant for you, we outline in our first conversation, which also serves as the basis for a proper offer.

Can you maintain and expand your website or online shop yourself?

You can maintain and expand all content yourself. You will receive a thorough briefing from me in advance. For websites, I use Vue.js with Laravel as the backend framework. If you don’t want to do the maintenance yourself, I can optionally do this partially or completely for you.

Backups and updates require additional technical effort. This requires a certain level of technical knowledge for most systems and should therefore preferably not be carried out independently. I am also happy to take on this task optionally on a regular and timely basis for you.

What does a website or online shop cost?

The costs for a website or an online shop naturally depend on the scope of the project. To give you a meaningful overview, you can use the following empirical values as a guide:

  • Landing page (one-pager) with Weblication: 200 Euro - 2,800 Euro
  • Website: 600 Euro to 5,000 Euro
  • Online shop: 2,200 Euro to 4,000 Euro
  • Online shop with CMS: 2,200 Euro to 10,000 Euro (incl. website and blog)

Do you need a new website or a new online shop?

If your website or online shop is technically and/or visually no longer state-of-the-art, this question is usually easy to answer. But even a new website or a new online shop can be realized ‘past the target’. The classic weaknesses are outdated design, programming that no longer works on different devices, missing functionality or compatibility and outdated, insecure software. If your business depends on your online presence and you live off it, there is no question that you should do everything to ensure that this important part works optimally for you!

Is the website or online shop your property?

Websites and online shops developed by me belong to you. If it should be necessary for any reason, you can easily switch to another provider. With other providers or inflexible modular systems, you are often dependent on the respective provider and may have to have a completely new website or a new online shop created in the event of a change. All graphics will be provided to you on request, provided the rights allow it, and all necessary domains and software will be acquired in your name.

Is the created print advertising your property?

For all final drawings / print templates created by me, you receive a spatially and temporally unlimited right of use for your company.

How long does it take until everything is ready?

You can probably guess the answer: It depends on the scope and my workload. To still offer you some points of reference, here is a rough estimate:

  • Small website: approx. 1 month
  • Classic website for a company: approx. 2 months
  • Small online shop: approx. 2 months
  • Extensive online shop: approx. 6 months
  • A brand design / logo: approx. 1 month

From many years of experience I can say that there are almost always delays, and very often this is due to late delivery of content or late feedback. As your project manager, I try to avoid this and like to serve as a ‘reminder’. For large projects, it can help to bring in other service providers such as a copywriter.

Why is a brand workshop useful?

The brand workshop is for customers who do not yet have a specific differentiation for their brand and/or products or who want to optimize an existing brand design. Your success lies in communicating your advantages, which is why we work together to develop your brand concept as a basis for all further solutions.

What distinguishes my work?

There are many offers on the market – why should you choose me? I have over 5 years of experience from many different projects and offer my customers a choice of 2 CMS and 3 online shops. The advantage for you is comprehensive knowledge and high problem-solving competence. I have experienced every conceivable situation in projects, seen many trends come and go and know what works and what doesn’t. This makes you very adaptable, also for future requirements.

To find out if we fit well together, you can get a first impression through my offer, my references and my blog, which we can then deepen in a personal conversation – I would be pleased.

What technologies do I use?

My work can include most of these technologies or tools

  • Frontend:
  • React.js (incl. Redux, Next.js), Vue.js (Vite)
  • JavaScript & TypeScript (ES6+), JSX, HTMX

  • Backend & Tools:
  • Laravel, PHP (Yii2), Node.js / Express
  • SQL-MYSQL, NoSQL-MongoDB, Postman
  • NPM, Git/GitHub/Gitlab (incl. Gitlab CI)
  • Testing: Jest, Cypress (TDD-oriented testing)
  • Linux Dev Stack: LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) setup and maintenance

From many years of experience I can say that there are almost always delays, and very often this is due to late delivery of content or late feedback. As your project manager, I try to avoid this and like to serve as a ‘reminder’. For large projects, it can help to bring in other service providers such as a copywriter.

What should you as a customer provide?

It is primarily your project, which has a major impact on the future of your company. So plan enough time for it. Your cooperation is required for feedback, content and further collaboration and is often underestimated. For example, with online shops with Wawi / ERP, a considerable amount of time can arise from coordination and data entry.

In which formats should images for the website and online shop be delivered?

Photo motifs (landscapes, persons etc.) please as .jpg, isolated motifs please as .webp, and motifs with much text or lines please as .gif or .webp. Logos if possible please as .svg or .eps. All image motifs preferably in landscape format with a width of approx. 1800px.

How to find a suitable hosting provider?

What should you do for SEO?

Do I have to maintain ?

Because it is asked again and again: No! The meta tag ‘keywords’ has not been relevant for the ranking in Google search since 2009.

What should you consider regarding accessibility?

The implementation of accessibility by the professional association (BFSG) requires many companies to build digitally accessible websites by June 28, 2025. This generally applies to B2C companies with over €2 million annual turnover and at least 10 employees. Despite the legal obligations, creating accessible websites is best practice as they can greatly improve the overall user experience and increase conversion rates.

*The legislation states that companies that offer goods or services for consumers and end users, have a total turnover of more than 2 million Euro / year and employ at least 10 people, must definitely focus their websites on accessibility from June 28, 2025.

*The reverse conclusion is: companies that offer their goods or services exclusively B2B or have a maximum total turnover of 2 million Euro / year and fewer than 10 employees are exempt from the new regulations.

Fundamentally, however, websites and online shops should be designed as accessible or low-barrier as possible. This makes sense for economic reasons alone. An accessible website goes hand in hand with a better user experience and can thus increase the conversion rate. I am happy to advise you in more detail on this topic.

Do my websites and online shops also work on mobile devices (responsive)?

Actually, it has long been a matter of course that websites and online shops work just as well on mobile devices as on stationary devices (desktops) or laptops with larger screens, and of course this is also the case with the projects I supervise.

Here, too, there are quality differences: An automatic adaptation to the device used can be designed via ‘breakpoints’, then it switches exactly from this point and for this device class to another view, or it can be designed ‘fluid’. ‘Fluid’ here means that device-independent adjustments are also taken into account, for example for different window sizes on a desktop. This also leads to fewer unsightly display errors on larger screens, because no one knows how large or how small the browser window is used there.
